From Evidence to Action: Symposium on Canada's Response to Strangulation

Please mark your calendars to join us in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia May 13-15 during the national Victims and Survivors of Crime Week to learn about strangulation research, policy, and practice in Canada. The symposium is the ideal place for practitioners, service providers, policymakers, and researchers to network and learn about strangulation in Canada. Our array of keynote presentations and skills-focused workshops will include:

  • Strangulation case law in Canadian criminal courts;
  • Implementing police-based strangulation tools to guide strangulation investigations;
  • Supporting survivors who have experienced strangulation and brain injury;
  • Healthcare practices in detecting and responding to strangulation disclosures;
  • Developing and implementing interagency strangulation protocols;
  • "Consensual" sexual strangulation and Canadian criminal courts; and
  • Trends among forensic nurse examinations where strangulation is reported.
